The function of a static seal is to prevent fluid bypass between mating surfaces in which there is little or no relative motion when exposed to zero, low or high pressures. There are various profiles used in industry with the O-ring being the most common, while custom profiles can be used based upon equipment and operating conditions.
The proper seal profile—used in combination with a high performance material—has proven to create a very effective static sealing solution.
